Nadia’s story, marked by passion, resilience, and an evolving artistic odyssey, stands as a beacon of inspiration, affirming the boundless possibilities awaiting those who dare to chase their dreams.

Born in Egypt to Italian parents, Nadia’s artistic journey began under the inspiring influence of her mother, a Florence-trained artist.

Her early years saw her serving UNESCO, a venture that took her across 49 nations before love beckoned, leading to her marriage with her Japanese partner.

Immersing herself in the rich cultural tapestry of Japan, Nadia devoted three decades to mastering and teaching traditional Japanese arts. Her pursuits spanned the delicate craft of Kimekomi doll making, the aesthetic discipline of flower arrangement, and the intricate art of hand-painting silk flowers. Yet, the rigidity of traditional practices eventually clashed with her Italian zest, urging her to seek a freer artistic expression.

The allure of silk painting always beckoned, and Nadia finally heeded the call. Her initial foray was met with discouragement from a tutor, who deemed her too entrenched in Japanese aesthetics for the medium. Disheartened, Nadia retreated from silk painting for a year and a half. However, a spark of defiance reignited her resolve, leading her back to the drawing board where she birthed her first masterpiece – the White Peacock. It was a turning point that unveiled a new horizon of artistic exploration.

She crafts her visions on Dharma silk habotai, ranging from medium to heavy momme silk, with her favored hues from Dupont, Jacquard Green Label, and Pebeo. Dye-na-flo paints and water-based resists are her companions in creation, while a 2-burner long steamer aids in bringing her silk paintings to life. Her crowning achievement to date is a majestic portrayal of a Siberian tiger.

Nadia’s story is a testament to perseverance, echoing a simple yet profound advice – to trust oneself and never abandon one’s dreams.
